Norte Youth Cycling hosts and supports countless family-friendly events in Traverse City, Elk Rapids, and nearby communities all year long. Looking to make the most out of your region on your bike? Take advantage of the Bata Bike-N-Ride! Buses for three bikes run all year long between Suttons Bay and Traverse City; but the BIG BIKE BUS for eleven bikes runs back and forth every afternoon, seven days a week, from mid May until Mid October with special pick ups at Leelanau trailheads on weekends. Enjoy a bike ride on the trail followed by time at the beach or the ice cream shop or dining at Farm Club, Shady Lane, or V.I. Grill. Then take the Big Bike Bus back to Traverse City!

MTB Season Prep - Trailside Repairs and Basic Bike Care Class
$35, $25 if you are registered for a MTB program

Get prepared for the mountain bike season by learning some repairs that can be done trailside and what you need to do to keep your bike running smoothly. We’ll cover the following tasks:
-putting back on a chain that has fallen off
-repairing a broken chain
-flat repair
-post crash assessment
-chain care: lubing and cleaning
-bike cleaning
-air pressure
Mud, Sweat & Beers 2026
Join Norte at Mud, Sweat, and Beers for the fun and exciting Root Beer Race! The race is a short, fun-filled course of approximately a 1/4 mile. Head to their site to register for the race here!
Derailleurs and Shifting Mechanic Class
One of the most commonly requested and least understood adjustments on the bike, we’ll learn everything that needs to be done to get your bike shifting smoothly. From barrel adjustments to hanger alignment all aspects of shifting adjustments will be covered.

More Girls on Bikes!
Join Norte for a laidback and welcoming bike ride for women of all ages! We’ll do a short 3-4 mile ride, based on group speed, beginning and ending at the Norte Clubhouse at the Grand Traverse County Civic Center.
Women and girls of all ages are welcome. Young riders in 4th grade and up are encouraged to ride. 3rd grade and lower should consider hopping in a bike trailer. All riders 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Smart Commute Week
The week consists of events promoting cycling, walking, taking the bus and carpooling. Join us to support our friends at TART and to take care of our planet!
Slow Roll Traverse City (Smart Commute Week)
Nothing brings people together like a bike ride! Join us for our first Slow Roll which falls during Smart Commute Week with TART!
Slow Rolls are our free community bike rides designed to provide a fun, social experience on two wheels. Show up, slow down, and explore your community at an entirely new pace. These family bike rides are typically just a few miles along a safe, flat route. All ages are welcome.
Traverse City Slow Rolls start at Oryana at 6:00pm and end at The Little Fleet around 7:00pm.

NCF Balance Bike Race
Get set for an exciting morning of racing at the Grand Traverse County Civic Center on Saturday, July 4th. 150 young racers will showcase their skills and determination on the balance bike course, and you can cheer them on to the finish line! This event is free and open exclusively to balance bikes for young riders aged 2-5. Participants can register online, or on the morning of the event starting at 8 am, and prepare for some heart-pumping, adorable action! Racing will begin at 9 am and end around 10:30. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to support the future of cycling in motion.
NCF Bike Valet
Norte is committed to helping to build a bike-friendly and safe community. Thanks to our dedicated volunteers, our Bike Valets allow assisted bike parking and storage during community events and festivals such as the National Cherry Festival.

Fall Fun Ride
Join us for our Fall Fun Ride! We’ll kick off and wrap up at TC Whiskey on 14th Street, where you can soak up the autumn colors. Our route features a scenic four-mile loop around Boardman Lake, perfect for a leisurely ride. After we finish, stick around for a tasty treat from the food truck parked right outside TC Whiskey. Enjoy delicious food, refreshing drinks, and quality time with family and friends as we celebrate the beauty of fall together.
Walk, Bike, & Roll to School Day
Walk, Bike & Roll to School Day encourages healthier, more eco-friendly ways for students to get to school. Norte helps facilitate this event at schools across Northern Michigan. Iceman Balance Bike Race
This version of the Iceman (Sno-Cone) is a race for youngsters 10 & under. The courses will consist of a short (1/4 mile) and relatively flat loop around Timber Ridge Resort for the very youngest riders and a 1.5 mile course for older riders.

Bearings and Wheels Mechanic Class
We will cover the parts of your bike that keep you rolling, literally! How to assess, clean, regrease and adjust the bearings of your bike. Then the basics of how to true your wheels when they get wobbly from the sick jumps you’ve been doing.

In this hands-on class you will learn all the basics of how to take care of your bike and keep it rolling smoothly. We will begin with a flat repair lesson and then cover a series of basic maintenance tasks such as chain care and how to properly clean your bike.

Bikes for All is open to anyone, regardless of age or ability. We offer adaptive bikes specially modified to accommodate individuals with special needs, disabilities, or mobility challenges, so that everyone can enjoy the thrill of riding.
We're committed to building healthy and active communities, so we've launched Bikes for All Meetups every Tuesday at 10:30 am from June to August. These Meetups create a welcoming space where individuals with special needs can connect and build a sense of community—and ride and have fun! Join us at the Clubhouse for ride this summer.
Elk Rapids Slow Roll
Nothing brings people together like a bike ride. Slow Rolls are our free community bike rides designed to provide a fun, social experience on two wheels. Show up, slow down, and explore your community at an entirely new pace. These family bike rides are typically just a few miles along a safe, flat route.
Every Thursday night all summer long! (Except Harbor Days!)
Rides start at 6:00pm at the Cedar Street Parking Lot and reach the Short’s Pull Barn around 7:15pm or so.

Join Norte for a laidback and welcoming bike ride! We’ll do a short 3-4 mile ride, based on group speed, beginning and ending at the Norte Clubhouse (by the playground) at the Grand Traverse County Civic Center.
Women and girls of all ages are welcome. Young riders in 4th grade and up are encouraged to ride. 3rd grade and lower should consider hopping in a bike trailer. All riders 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
