Community Bike Maintenance Classes
Learn how to maintain your bike with beginner-friendly bike maintenance and repair classes! Led by Norte’s Chief Mechanic & Community Educator, Tyler Witkuszyski, each class provides a hands-on, accessible learning experience for any type of rider – child or adult!
Family Bike Maintenance Schedule
Join us for one family-friendly maintenance class or all of them! Each class is low-key, inclusive, and fun. Bring your bike, clothes you don’t mind getting a little greasy, and your appetite - we guarantee you’ll leave with a treat and a smile.
All classes are targeted towards kids 1st grade through high school but adults are welcome as well. Guardians who wish to attend with their child are required to register as well. Participants are encouraged to bring their own bike to work on but if that’s not possible we can provide a bike to practice on. You will be getting your hands dirty so wear clothing that you don’t mind getting greasy, aprons and gloves will be provided but don’t always cover everything.
Basic Bike Care

In this hands-on class you will learn all the basics of how to take care of your bike and keep it rolling smoothly. We will begin with a flat repair lesson and then cover a series of basic maintenance tasks such as chain care and how to properly clean your bike.
Derailleurs and Shifting

One of the most commonly requested and least understood adjustments on the bike, we’ll learn everything that needs to be done to get your bike shifting smoothly. From barrel adjustments to hanger alignment all aspects of shifting adjustments will be covered.
Brakes

From disc brakes to cantilevers we’ll cover adjustment and servicing of all the common types of braking systems. Stopping rubbing, replacing pads, improving power and more.
Bearings and Wheels

We will cover the parts of your bike that keep you rolling, literally! How to assess, clean, regrease and adjust the bearings of your bike. Then the basics of how to true your wheels when they get wobbly from the sick jumps you’ve been doing.
MTB Season Prep - Trailside Repairs and Basic Bike Care

$35, $25 if you are registered for a MTB program
Get prepared for the mountain bike season by learning some repairs that can be done trailside and what you need to do to keep your bike running smoothly. We’ll cover the following tasks:
-putting back on a chain that has fallen off
-repairing a broken chain
-flat repair
-post crash assessment
-chain care: lubing and cleaning
-bike cleaning
-air pressure
Flat Repair Classes on Request
Call, text or email the Wheelhouse to schedule an appointment, allow 30-45 minutes: $25 Learn how to change a flat with a hands-on class. You will learn how to remove front and rear wheels from your bike, unmount the tire and replace the inner tube. Patching innertubes will also be covered. Each participant will receive a Norte patch kit and a set of tire levers.
