​Balance Bike Club ​is for riders ages​ ​2–5​. ​For the Balance Bike Club, Norte partners with schools​ to deliver in-school programs and offers after-school group lessons​ in the spring and fall. In addition, we invite these early riders to ride on the skills tracks at Norte's Clubhouse in Traverse City and the Chain Hub in Elk Rapids during the summer.
Balance Bike Club creates a solid foundation for children to ride into Adventure Bike Club, Summer Bike Camp, and Norte’s Youth Mountain Bike Club.
Balance Bike Club is available for our youngest riders thanks to supporting sponsors Tom’s Food Market and Plamondon Shoes.
Spring Balance Bike Club runs from June 3 until June 13 in Traverse City and Elk Rapids. Sessions are twice a week for two weeks, 30 minutes each with up to 12 fellow riders per session.
Balance Bike Club Experiences — This is an in-school initiative for pre-k programs that Norte operates during the school year. Norte brings the bikes, helmets, coaches, and lots of energy. Download our one-sheeter to learn more.
After-School Balance Bike Club — In the spring and fall, we host a two-week program for the Little Stars at the Clubhouse in Traverse City and the Chain Hub in Elk Rapids. Registration is required, and sessions run for 30 minutes.
Books, Bubbles, and Bikes — From June through August, we host Balance Bike Club meetups for the first time riders in Traverse City and Elk Rapids. These low-key, drop-in affairs are fun for everyone—no need to bring your bike. We have plenty to lend out. From 10:30AM-11:30AM Wednesdays in Traverse City at the Norte Clubhouse and Thursdays in Elk Rapids at Rotary Park.
VOLUNTEERS WANTED!
Norte Youth Cycling seeks passionate, positive, and dedicated individuals to join our volunteer team. As a Balance Bike Club volunteer, you will work with a small squad of young riders, focusing on motivating and mentoring them and ensuring their safety and well-being. Experience is not required. Training is provided for all Balance Bike Club volunteers.
If you are passionate about helping children stay active and learn to ride bikes—and are ready for some fun—we want to hear from you!
SCHOLARSHIPS
Thanks to our generous donors and sponsors, Norte is proud to provide youth scholarships to ensure that all families can participate in our programs. We encourage educators to apply for scholarships based on their expected funding needs.

Cancellation Policy?
Cancellations Initiated by the Parent, Guardian, or Participant
Norte will issue a 100% refund (minus a $10 service fee) for cancellations made 30 days before the program or camp session start date.
Norte will issue a 75% refund for cancellations made 20 days before the program or camp session start date.
Norte will issue a 50% refund for cancellations made 14 days before the program or camp session date.
Norte will not issue a refund for cancellations made within 13 days of the program or camp session start date.
Cancellations Initiated by State or Local Authorities (e.g., COVID-19, Emergency)
Norte will issue a 100% refund (minus a $10 service fee) if a program or event cannot begin due to State or local policies.
Norte will issue a prorated refund (minus a $10 service fee) if State or local policies prohibit the continuation of a program.
